Recipes to Celebrate Caffeine Awareness Month
March is Caffeine Awareness Month, something Streusel and I were *very* excited to discover. The intent is to raise understanding – and therefore moderate – the amount of caffeine that folks intake. While Streusel and I agree this is a worthy cause, we also both love our coffee (and tea and chocolate). We’re entering Caffeine Awareness Month with the belief that if we’re going to have caffeine daily, it should honor our favorite mild addiction.
Before we start posting new recipes for March – during which we’ll feature recipes that include coffee or tea, or foods that pair exceptionally well with a caffeinated drink – we took a look in our archives. In realizing that we have a whole bunch of receipts that speak to our caffeinated inclinations, we thought it appropriate to start with those first.
Check our our retrospective on the next page to get some ideas on how to get your Caffeine Celebration off to an energetic start!
Espresso Chocolate Chunk Scones with Cinnamon Glaze – A dream recipe for scones – light and buttery from a simple master recipe – with an added coffee-chocolate kick
Cowboy Cookies – Chewy, salty, chocolatey, with a hit of coffee flavor, this treat is stuffed with all sorts of good stuff, in cookie form.
Sour Cream Coffee Cake – A favorite go-to recipe that’s floated around my family for years, it’s great for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. Plus: it’s made with a box cake mix, and defines “quick and easy.”
Vanilla Bean Scones – With a deep, rich vanilla flavor, these petite scones are a tasty treat that are even better when paired with a morning latte (if you’re Strudel) or a cup of black coffee (if you’re Streusel).
Earl Gray Shortbread Cookies – Buttery, crumbly and richly flavored with earl gray, these cookies have a little bit of caffeine and a whole lot of happiness.
Molasses Cashew Bars – Chewy and filled with fall flavors, these bars come together in a snap, and are perfect with a morning cup of coffee.
