Sourdough Cookies
I was just playing around wanting to make a cookie with some of my sourdough starter.
These cookies are super good. The texture is soft and the turbinado sugar gives a nice crunch on the outside. The sourdough starter makes the cookies taste lemony – yumm!
Sourdough Cookies
makes about 16 cookies
1/2 c. unsalted butter, cut into chunks, room temperature
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. sourdough starter (this is the pulled off portion that sat in my refrigerator for a week, super sour)
1 t. vanilla
pinch of salt
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 t. baking powder
turbinado sugar
Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the sourdough starter and mix well, add the vanilla and mix. Add the flour, baking powder and salt and mix just until combined.
Refrigerate dough for at least 30 minutes. Roll the cold dough in your hand to create about 16 cookie dough balls. Roll in turbinado sugar.
Bake at 360 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. Let cool on a rack for about 10 minutes before serving.
