Spiced Date Balls
These little treats are so easy, healthy and addictive! I bought 5 pounds of dates and walnuts at Costco recently. Why you ask? Why not! I can eat dates and walnuts by the handful.
However, I started thinking about Larabars and how they are really just dates and nuts and sometimes other dried fruit. I can do that! Yippee. Something to counteract all the Halloween Candy and the upcoming Holiday Feasts!
Spiced Date Balls
3 c. pitted dates (I used Deglet Noor dates)
1 1/2 c. walnut halves
1/4 t. sea salt
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. freshly grated nutmeg
Combine all of the ingredients into the bowl of a food processor. Process on high for 2 to 3 minutes until the ingredients are well combined.
Roll about 2 T. into a ball. Makes between 15 to 20 balls depending on the size.
Store in the refrigerator in an air tight container. They are good for as long as you can keep them around. In my case, not longer than about 5 days! Watch out, once you eat one, you’ll want to eat about 5 or 6.
Serve them at your next Holiday party! Maybe even splash a little rum in the food processor. Yumm!
